Uttar Ai ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered tutoring platform for school students across Classes 1–12, available in English and multiple Indian regional languages. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you and your child have. It applies to every Uttar Ai app and subdomain under uttarai.in.
If you are a parent or guardian: many of our students are minors. This policy explains specifically what we collect from students, how sign-up is verified, and how you can request access to or deletion of your child's data. See "Children's Privacy" below.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name and email address — provided directly by you, or shared by Google if you sign in with a Google account.
- Curriculum, language, and subject preferences — which board (e.g. IB, IGCSE, CBSE), medium of instruction, and subject you select when using the platform.
As you use the platform, we collect:
- Questions you ask our AI teachers — the text of your doubts and questions, so our AI can respond and so we can improve the platform.
- Images you upload — for example, a photo of a textbook problem — which are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. We do not intend to permanently store the images themselves once a response has been generated.
- Voice input — if you use the microphone to ask a question, your device's browser converts speech to text before it is sent to us; we do not separately record or store audio.
- Usage information — such as session activity, which multiple-choice questions you answer, and general usage patterns, used to track learning progress and improve the platform.
2. Email Verification
We require every email/password account to verify their email address before they can use the platform. This protects students and parents by ensuring accounts are tied to a real, reachable email address, and helps us keep the platform free of fake or disposable-email accounts.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide AI-tutoring responses to your questions.
- To track your learning progress across sessions.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the platform, including diagnosing technical issues.
- To communicate with you about your account, such as verification emails or important platform updates.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.
4. How We Store and Protect Information
Access to student data is restricted to platform administration for the purposes of operating and improving the service.
5. Children's Privacy
Uttar Ai is designed for use by school students, including children under 18, typically under the guidance of a parent, guardian, or school. We collect only the information described in Section 1, and only as needed to provide tutoring. We do not knowingly use children's data for behavioural advertising or profiling unrelated to education.
Parents and guardians may contact us at any time (see Section 8) to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's account and associated data.

- You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- You may request correction of inaccurate information.
- You may request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to any legal or legitimate operational need to retain certain records.
